Meet Sabrina, a wonderful white boxer that we found at the county shelter.
My son Marc was looking for a life-time best friend and when their eyes met it was love at first sight. While filling out the adoption papers we found out that her final hour was nearing because she had been returned to the shelter not once, but twice. Sabrina was lively and young, about 9 months old.
As I signed the final paper I turned, and the pair was already our truck! My son joined the 4-H dog project K9s and Kids. There, they learned obedience, rally, agility and confirmation. They are the best novice team in the county! They will be competing in the state 4-H dog show this July. This is not only a victory for Sabrina but now a new generation of animal lovers knows the importance of responsible pet ownership.
Sincerely,
Angela Jumper
~~ Dogs like Sabrina are brought to shelters by the thousands every year. They are animals unlucky enough to have been brought home by an owner who didn't research the breed or were unrealistic about the kind of dog that would fit into their lifestyle. As you can see from this story, it's a mistake to assume that rescue dogs are somehow "defective". Here's hoping that Sabrina will continue winning titles and furthering the cause of shelter dogs everywhere. They couldn't ask for a better ambassador. *djr
